Of course, perfecting that formula takes a rare combination of time, talent, and vision. Built by the craftsmen at the RKM Performance Center, this stunning 1970 Dodge Charger R/T is one of the lucky few backed by all three, resulting in a no-holds-barred build ready to dominate on the show-field and the auto-cross track. While many second generation Chargers shine bright with High Impact colors, this R/T offers a more sinister presence thanks to a mirror-like coat of DBU9700 black paint accented by grey hood and tail stripes - a color picked from the Lamborghini paint charts. The car shows well from every angle, offering miles of depth and plenty of luster. The body is finished with show quality components including new chrome, stainless, and glass. On the doors, modern Hemi badges hint as what lives under the hood. Inside the car, classic Mopar styling reins. From the carpet to the headliner, every piece has been treated with equal attention. New high-back bucket seats from Legendary Auto Interiors are wrapped in fresh leather, surrounded by new door panels and a pristine wood grain-topped console in the middle. From the driver seat, the view is period correct with original gauges in the cluster and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel in front. The main upgrade is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit which sends signal to all new Pioneer speakers. Lift the striped hood and pristine engine bay comes into view. The firewall and inner fenders wear grey paint while two braces run the length of the bay, tying into the frame below. In the center the original 440 is replaced by an Indy 426 Hemi crate engine. The engine makes a dyno-proven 506hp with help from fresh internals, CNC-ported heads, and Hilborn injection. At the front, an attractive March serpentine system spins accessories including a polished air conditioning compressor and power steering pump. Turn the key and the Hemi snarls through long tube headers connected to a true dual exhaust system with Dynomax mufflers. Underneath the car, a Tremec TKO-500 five-speed manual transmission makes quick work of shifts before sending power to a stout Dana 60 rear end filled with 3.54 gears. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through new Moser axles. Behind the differential, a custom stainless fuel tank with an internal fuel pump takes care of feeding the Hemi. Around the drivetrain, the suspension starts with a new Magnumforce tubular K-member with 1.25-inch control arms, QA1 coilovers, and a fresh rack and pinion setup. The back remains traditional with leaf springs and QA1 shocks. Braking is handled by a power-assisted Wilwood setup with 12.9-inch rotors that tuck neatly behind 18 and 19-inch Forgeline wheels. Built by the best for the most discriminating muscle car fans the scene has to offer, this Charger is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the rewards of a fresh world-class pro-tourer without endless calls to vendors, builders, and banks.
